I am Scott Salisbury Richards. I spent 36 years in the corporate world as an expert in marine safety management, incident investigation, vessel inspection, international regulatory compliance, construction, marine engineering and naval architecture. My career started with the design of fishing vessels, moved to the Trident submarine design project and includes a wide range of disciplines in the oil industry for over 32 years.

As a safety professional I observed many situations where the work force was following the recommended safety procedures and wearing the appropriate fall protection equipment, but I thought that there had to be more effective ways to protect them from injuries that continued to result from falls. I came up with some ideas. After I retired from the corporate world, began my consulting business as S.S. Richards & Associates LLC (SSR&A) and began work with an IP attorney. The patent for these devices was issued 13 September 2016 and I have been focused and motivated to bring them to the market ever since. 

Craig Carlson met me in 2015 while I was pitching my start up. He recognized the scaleability of the business and had contacts that he felt could help the project. Craig has the extensive experience that I was seeking. He had built numerous businesses from start ups to commercialization projects sponsored by the World Bank and the U.N. We began working together in 2016. He introduced Henry Jacobs, who had the technical skills and experience that we needed to develop the sensing circuits and algorithms to detect falls without false positives. We are, all three, committed to the commercialization of these life saving and injury minimizing fall protection devices.
